Pointer at Virginia Branch convention (photo and caption)
A bright sunny Sunday - June 24 - and the lovely grounds of The King's Daughters and Sons Apartments in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, set the scene for an old-fashioned strawberry social to raise funds for the Ottawa City Union's proposed expansion of the King's Daughters Dinner Wagon. Above, clockwise from top left, Lisa MacLeod, MPP for Nepean-Carleton officially opening the event; the Attic Treasures table with a variety of donated items for sale; Elizabeth Slump, OCU president with Ottawa Chautauqua Circle President Walter Davidson and Ottawa Capital Ward Municipal Councillor Clive Doucet; a plate of sweet fresh strawberries and cream; and an architect's drawing of the proposed expansion. ![]() Virginia Branch President, Nan Pointer, standing in front of a historic stained glass windows at the chapel at Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Virginia. The windows were originally at the Sheltering Arms Hospital in Richmond. The hospital was founded in the late 1800s by members of The King's Daughters and Sons. |
