PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Friends - At this time, throughout North America members are gathering for Circle and Branch meetings. Speakers are bringing news about the Order's two recently adopted projects, autism and literacy. Plans are being made for fundraisers such as the Columbia, Missouri City Union's fabulous celebration, Party of Parties. On smaller scales, Circles will be hosting card parties, fashion shows, yard sales, golf tournaments, and a myriad of other fundraisers. The money from these many activities will be used to finance hundreds, even thousands, of worthwhile projects. For example, the members of Columbia, MO, will fund their dental health program which provides needed dental care to several hundred needy children each year. Other groups will purchase good children's books to donate to schools and shelters. Warm coats and blankets will be given to homeless shelters. Some Circles are distributing informative materials to make the general public more aware of autism. The work of The King's Daughters and Sons goes on and on. What is your Circle or Branch doing to help the less fortunate? With these turbulent economic times, the need is everywhere. Within your community, people are relying more and more on aid. At the Potter's House Urban Outreach Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where I volunteer each week, the number of clients has increased dramatically. No longer are the homeless alone in seeking help; the working poor need assistance. I salute each of you as you gather in Christian harmony and work to uphold the ideals upon which The King's Daughters and Sons was founded 122 years ago. The legacy of service and ministry which began in a New York City brownstone home will continue to shine through your good works which are being done In Christ's Name. Frances Buskey
