28,000 PIECE PUZZLE RAISES $140,000 FOR AUTISM
Sunday, April 27, hundreds of people gathered in Virginia Beach, VA to put together a huge puzzle with 28,000 pieces. This was a fundraiser of FACT (Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater). Puzzle pieces were sold for $5.00 each to help raise money for an autism research center. Approximately $140,000.00 was raised from this project. Plus, as co-founder of FACT, Pat Alspaugh (a King's Daughter) stated it would help increase awareness of the disorder which affects 1 in every 150 children. The puzzle pieces were red, orange, purple, and blue 18 by 18 inch pieces. Teams of supporters worked to complete the giant puzzle which it is hoped will set a record as the world's largest puzzle.
