Spring has arrived and with it the most important day in the Christian church year, Easter. This season is one of nature's greatest seasonal changes. With everything coming to life in the outdoors it spells immortality. Jesus came to bring His blessings to all mankind. He showed us what God is like and he revealed the human in God and the Divine in man. Jesus gave life new depth and meaning and lifted it to a high level. He did not create faith in immortal life - He confirmed it - He did not argue about eternal life - He lived it. Jesus loved not only the far reaches of the Holy Land but also the whole world of yesterday, today, and tomorrow with a passionate and everlasting love. The words He spoke to His disciples and the people then are meant for us now. The Holy Spirit provides us with the resources to return His love by putting His love into action. He gives us the ability to express love effectively, with understanding, with faithfulness so that the love takes shape and form to be seen by those who need it. Through Jesus, The King's Daughters and Sons help those who are discouraged and helpless because of poverty, age, or illness. What we do for others in this world Christ considers done for Him. He is with us always. Every day members of this 123 year old Christian service organization reach out to others. Whether it be distributing scholarships, working with autistic children, helping a child or adult read, volunteering at a camp, or one or another of the myriad activities offered in every community - King's Daughters and Sons are at the front of the battle to help the less fortunate. Many members work at their churches' soup kitchens to provide meals for the indigent. They collect coats and blankets to warm the homeless. Book bags are filled with wonderful books, puppets, and pre-reading activities for preschoolers and their parents. The list of projects is endless. Soon the Indiana and Iowa Branches will sponsor their annual summer camps. These camps provide hours of fun and education for youngsters who might not have the opportunity to attend camps. Volunteers and funds are always needed. For several years, Deb Hurd, Junior Director, has participated in the activities at the Indiana camp. She has loved telling campers about The King's Daughters and Sons. In Virginia Beach, a local King's Daughter will be responsible for Camp Gonnawannagoagain, a special day camp for autistic children. During the summer, the houses at Chautauqua will be full of Christian students from many countries. Later pastors will gather to experience rest and relaxation from their busy schedules. Plus, members of the Order will journey to stay in the houses and encounter all that Chautauqua has to offer. At the end of the season, Branch and International leaders from throughout the United States and Canada will gather at Chautauqua, NY, for a meeting to discuss and celebrate the work which has been accomplished during the past year. This is an exciting time for Branch and International leaders to come together, network, and learn about the work of each Circle and Branch in the Order. Guidelines for the further work of the Order will be developed. As you continue to unselfishly work In Christ's Name, I salute you. Every day look for new ways to assist all of God's children. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, expects it from us. I know you will not let Him down. Frances Buskey Sellew MEDITATION
