CHESAPEAKE BAY CIRCLE FILLS 20 LITERACY BAGS
In July, the Chesapeake Bay Circle of the Virginia Branch filled over 20 Literacy Bags for delivery to local schools, the library, the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, as well as doctor and dental offices in the Chesapeake Bay community. All members participated and made it a big success. MEDITATION - JANUARY 2010 REFRESH AND RENEW "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 We find ourselves on the verge of a New Year. There is something refreshing and encouraging in beginning a New Year. The New Year gives us once again a chance to renew and refresh ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. We are inspired with confidence and hope. The New Year speaks of new life, new experiences, new opportunities and new challenges. The New Year will bring us many opportunities and challenges. Let us not be afraid of saying "YES" to these challenges. Saying "yes" may be risky but many of us have lived to realize that we've missed opportunities to serve the Lord, to make positive differences in other people's lives because we were too cautious, too insecure, too concerned about all "the things that might go wrong". The good news is that history is full of examples of ordinary men and women, young and old, rich and poor, who have said "yes" to possibilities for making a positive difference in the world. Think of the two midwives - Shiprah and Puah. We don't know the personal history of each, but we do know they were courageous women who feared God more than any earthly king. Their allegiance to God gave them the courage to make a tough decision. Whatever the role we play in life, we have to make decisions and sometimes these are tough decisions. No matter how challenging our circumstances, with God's help, we may seize the new possibilities that lie before us. The knowledge that God is always with us gives us the courage and determination to serve others In His Name. May we cross the threshold of a New Year with stronger faith, renewed determination and greater courage to face the opportunities and challenges that may lie ahead "looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith". Hebrews 12:2 May God bless you with the joy of a New Year and new beginnings. In Christ all things are new. |
