A NEW YEAR'S PRAYER

We stand upon the threshold of the year;
Before us lies a strange, uncharted land.
Go with us, Lord, remove each doubt and fear,
Give us high courage, grasp our reaching hand
That we may safely tread the road ahead;
Within Thy care we will be safely led.

The past has been a strangely tangled maze
Of futile striving, and of wasted powers.
Our need is for the old simplicities,
For serenity and peace throughout the hours
Stretching before us on the road of life -
Free us, dear Lord, from stress and strain and strife.

The New Year! And a road that we must go!
May hope be a gold blossom in the heart,
And faith a steadfast light. Lord God, you know
Each bog, each rugged hill…now as we start
May we look forward, not to days long spent,
But toward a year of brave accomplishment.

---- Grace Noll Crowell

IOKDS HAS A NEW SERVICE PROJECT:
PROJECT APPRECIATION

Did you know that currently there are 1,400, 000 active duty members in the United States military? Yes, that is more than one million American men and women who are serving in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Additionally there are 840,000 in the reserves.

Canada has 68,000 active duty military who serve in the Royal Navy, Royal Army, Royal Air Force and additional special commands. Also Canada has 30,000 reservists.

All of us in North America are blessed to have the freedoms we enjoy because of these unselfish and brave men and women.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

You can let them know you care. The newest IOKDS endorsed service project is simply sending messages of thanks to member of the military including those currently deployed, those who are recovering from their injuries and those who are veterans.

CALLING ALL KINGS DAUGHTERS AND SONS
JOIN IN THE RECRUITMENT OF STUDENTS FOR THE CHAUTAUQUA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Hello to all! I had the privilege of being the Chautauqua Director this past summer and what a joy it was in so many ways. Thank you again to everyone for the prayers, monetary support and love that you showed me this past year. I have come to have a deep love and respect for the men and women of the IOKDS. God Bless each of you! Well, it is again time to think about recruiting scholars for the 2012 program. I am going to send all information electronically to every member again this year. The idea is to get the information into the hands of every member, so that you may recruit students for this wonderful Christian opportunity. The website has wonderful materials for recruiting; I urge you to use it extensively. {Click here.} Please feel free to e-mail or call me if you have any questions.

IHN,
Valerie Roberts
