WHO ARE THE KING'S DAUGHTERS AND SONS? The KDS is an interdenominational Christian service organization. It is comprised of approximately 5000 members, about 250 or so of whom are under the age of 18. The membership is primarily located in the United States and Canada, although it is not limited to these countries. Their focus is to lend a hand in service to others as taken from Mark 10:45, "Not to be ministered unto, but to minister." Members who meet in groups of 3 or more people are called "Circles." A group of Circles in each organized state or province is called a "Branch." The KDS is comprised of several Branches, and various members of these Branches are elected by membership to hold positions as International Executive Officers. The International Headquarters is located in Chautauqua, New York. Some members of The
King's Daughters and Sons support and/or own/run hospitals, homes for
the elderly, thrift shops, and child care centers. Some members provide
scholarships to those in the health fields, those mastering in divinity,
to Native American Indians, and to those living outside of the US or Canada
who choose to study in their own countries. Members contribute to various
causes locally and world-wide. "Being
a member [of The King's Daughters and Sons] has introduced me to many
industrious, creative men and women, some of whom have become life-long
friends. Membership has given me an opportunity to put my religious philosophy
into action, because I believe we are here to do the Lord's work on earth
and membership offers plenty of opportunities for that. It has provided
chances for leadership development as well as spiritual development, has
introduced me to an enchanting place called Chautauqua, and has made it
possible for me and my daughter's family to work together in an organization
we all admire and respect."
Would you like to become a member? Do you know some Christian friends with whom you would like to work? Each local group may choose its own service work. For more information about membership in the Order, see our Membership section or find contact information on our Contact page. |
