A typical class

Recent classes have ranged from about 10 to 16 students in size. Students come from all over the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Egypt, Mexico, the Ukraine and the United Kingdom, for example. Students come from a range of Christian faith groups and are at different places along their faith journey. Many, but not all, have a strong interest in music.

A typical day

Week 1 includes orientation days and Week 4 includes several special closing events including Order Night.

Chapel 8:30 am. Monday to Friday

Devotions for students and staff are lead by the students in the Ida A. Vanderbeck Chapel. This is an informal, personal time for class worship.

Morning Worship 9:15 am. Monday to Friday

Chautauquans gather in the amphitheater Monday through Friday, for worship. The 45-minute service consists of hymn singing, scripture reading and a sermon by the chaplain of the week. You will have the opportunity to take part in this service by reading the scripture during morning worship.
